"Ignoring the damages on your antique rug is like not wanting to go to dentist or optician when you need to"
Antique rugs and textiles are made with organic material; mostly wool, cotton or silk and they need cleaning and maintenance regulary depending on where you use them and how busy the traffic is. The ends and salvages often start to fray after some years of usage. (Your kids or party guests may spill a drink on them, your cat or dog may want a taste of the edges and corners!) Even when you do not use your old rugs, the moths may lay their eggs on them if the rugs are not stored properly or your rugs may be exposed to damp in your garage or attic. In addition to all the things that could happen to rugs, they will also get natural oxidization and wear to the pile after several decades of usage.
We will be happy to conserve your antique weavings professionally, secure the ends and sides to stop or prevent losses, treat them accordingly to prevent moth damage, deep clean them and make them totaly safe for your kids.
We also stabilize the damages on fragments of antique rugs, kilims and European tapestries and sew them professionally on natural dyed linen to be displayed properly in museums or private collections.
Please feel free to email us for free advice on the subject. |
