Rare Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug from Karabagh, Dated 1812

A rare and early Karabagh long rug from the first quarter of the 19th century featuring an all-over lattice work design with integrated shield and cross motifs in a subtle color palette of soft pink, sage green, beige, rust, navy blue and cerulean blue against an ivory background. The rug has a tri-layered border with elaborate detail in golden yellow and deep cerulean blue. 

Between the sophistication of the color palette and the lovely angularity of the intricately detailed geometric motifs of this rug, a very pleasant and satisfactory sense of balance is created.

The rug has medium wool pile on wool foundation. It is in very good condition and professionally cleaned.
