This authentic vintage Kurdish kilim was handwoven by village artisans in Central Turkey during the third quarter of the 20th century. Originally created for everyday use rather than for commercial export, it reflects the traditional craftsmanship, practical lifestyle, and rich textile heritage of Anatolian Kurdish communities.
These versatile handwoven flatweaves were traditionally used as wall hangings, bedding covers, tent dividers, curtains, floor coverings, and decorative textiles in village homes and nomadic tents. They were also sometimes prepared as part of a young woman’s trousseau.
As traditional examples of this type have not been produced for several decades, well-preserved vintage Kurdish kilims are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Today, they are valued as collectible examples of Turkish folk art, tribal weaving, and Anatolian textile culture.
Natural variations in the weave, color, and texture highlight the handmade origin of the piece and contribute to its unique character. This vintage kilim is in very good condition, has been professionally cleaned, and is ready for use or display.
