This magnificent and historically significant Antique Armenian Lori-Pambak Kazak Rug is a museum-quality tribal textile from the South Caucasus. Dating specifically to 1905, as evidenced by the clear Armenian inscription visible near the top border, this piece provides rare chronological and cultural documentation. Measuring 145 x 267 cm (approx. 4'9" x 8'9"), its size and superb condition make it an exceptional collector's acquisition.
The central field features a rich madder red/terra cotta ground, which is dominated by a vertical column of three large, powerful octagonal medallions. These medallions are intricately rendered in deep navy blue, teal, and ivory, centered by bold cruciform motifs and surrounded by elaborate geometric guls and stylized emblems. The density of the motifs and the powerful color palette are classic characteristics of the robust Lambalo style.
The composition is framed by a complex border system, including a wide main border of repetitive geometric rosettes and star motifs against a crisp ivory ground. Woven from durable, high-quality hand-spun wool with a characteristically thick, plush pile, and colored exclusively with deep, enduring natural dyes, this rug is in Very Good Condition with Near Full Pile, preserving its original vibrancy and textural integrity.
