This authentic vintage Turkish Jijim kilim was carefully handwoven from 100% local wool using the traditional brocading technique known as “Jijim.” This intricate weaving method creates raised decorative motifs over the flatwoven surface, giving the rug its distinctive texture, depth, and handmade character.
Woven in Turkey circa the 1970s, Jijim kilims were traditionally produced by Anatolian nomadic and village communities for everyday use in their tents and homes rather than for commercial export. Their geometric patterns, natural wool texture, and subtle variations reflect the cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship of traditional Turkish weavers.
Durable, lightweight, and versatile, this vintage flatweave rug can be used in living rooms, bedrooms, entryways, kitchens, hallways, home offices, or layered interior settings. Its timeless design complements bohemian, rustic, farmhouse, eclectic, traditional, Mediterranean, and contemporary interiors.
This one-of-a-kind vintage Turkish rug has been carefully cleaned and is ready for use. As a genuine handmade vintage piece, it may show minor irregularities, natural color variations, small repairs, or gentle signs of age. These characteristics are not considered flaws but are part of the rug’s history, authenticity, and unique handmade appeal.
