An elegant and finely executed Kayseri carpet woven in Central Anatolia circa 1970, reflecting the precision and decorative sophistication for which the region is known.
The composition is anchored by a classical burgundy medallion set against an ivory field densely populated with scrolling vinery, palmettes, and delicate floral tracery. Warm saffron and honey tones frame the field, creating a luminous contrast that enhances the architectural clarity of the design. Subtle accents of olive, soft gold, and deep wine add depth without disturbing the overall harmony.
The drawing is crisp and balanced, with excellent symmetry and refined detailing throughout. Unlike heavier traditional examples, this piece maintains an airy elegance, allowing the intricate patterning to remain legible and composed. The border system is proportionate and rhythmically articulated, framing the field with quiet authority.
Hand-knotted in wool on a cotton foundation, the carpet has a smooth, low pile and a supple handle. The weave is tight and precise, characteristic of Kayseri workshop production of the period.
Condition is very good for age, with even surface wear consistent with gentle use. Professionally cleaned and ready for installation.
A refined decorative Kayseri carpet, well suited for sophisticated interiors ranging from classical to transitional settings.
