A radiant, alluring antique Caucasian Kazak rug from the 1860s in a gorgeous color palette with a bold, dynamic design. The floating multiple hooked medallions at the center, each containing wheel of life and eye motifs in glowing marine blue, deep teal, soft golden yellow and cream infuse the rug with immense energy. The deep glowing striated scarlet red of the field makes for a perfect background that amplifies the impact of this energetic design. The latch-hook motifs that can be seen on the inner frame of the field are repeated in exactly the same fashion on the outermost border of the rug, extending the same sense of liveliness and energy to the edges. The cream inner border with its smaller hooked-medallions and ram’s horn motifs as well as the blue bands at the top and bottom featuring wheel of life motifs elevate the expressiveness of the design to another level giving us a glimpse of the colors and shapes that permeated the landscape of the mountain life of its Caucasian weavers. The rug was made with all natural dyes, that gain an even more attractive patina over time. It has even medium wool pile on wool foundation. It was preserved very well, so is in very good condition and professionally cleaned.Size: 4'9'' x 6'7''.
