This monumental Antique Caucasian Kazak Rug is a spectacular and exceptionally large tribal textile from the South Caucasus, dating to the late 19th century. The composition is centered on a deep madder red/burgundy field, which features a vertical column of three massive, geometrically complex lozenge (diamond) medallions. These dominant forms are meticulously filled with smaller, intricate geometric and floral motifs, and outlined by stepped pyramidal borders in white, yellow, and blue. The remaining field is densely populated with small tribal symbols and stylized flower heads, giving the rug a rich, textural appearance.
