This magnificent and historically rare Antique Inscribed Kazak Rug is an exceptional tribal textile from the South Caucasus, dating precisely to 1888 AD (1305 Islamic Solar Date), as indicated by the clear inscription visible in the upper central panel. Measuring 122 x 221 cm (approx. 4'0" x 7'3"), its versatile size, powerful design, and documented age make it a museum-quality piece for any collector.
The central field features a composition divided into complex geometric panels utilizing madder red and deep navy blue. These panels showcase large, stylized stepped medallions and cruciform motifs, densely surrounded by small tribal figures, stars, and prominent white latch-hook elements. The rug's upper section is distinctly marked by the dated Armenian or Islamic Solar script woven into the field, a very rare feature for a piece in this condition.
The composition is framed by an elaborate border system, featuring repeating diamond guls and geometric symbols against a crisp ivory ground. Woven from durable, high-quality hand-spun wool with a characteristically thick, Full Pile, and colored exclusively with deep, saturated natural dyes, this rug is in Very Good Original Condition, presenting both impeccable preservation and profound historical provenance.
