A finely handwoven Navajo rug featuring a bold geometric hourglass design, created in the early 20th century using hand-spun wool in natural undyed tones of brown and grey, accented by faded aniline red.
Likely woven in the Crystal or Red Mesa region, this piece reflects the transitional phase between traditional blanket weaving and the decorative trading-post rugs of the 1920s–1940s. Its minimalist, symmetrical composition and warm earthy palette make it a timeless example of Navajo textile art.
This rug remains in very good condition with only minor age-appropriate wear. Suitable for use as a wall hanging or floor accent in both Southwestern and modern interiors.
Origin: Navajo Nation, Southwestern USA
Date: Circa 1920–1940
Technique: Handwoven wool on wool, flat-weave construction
Condition: Very good vintage condition; minor wear consistent with age
Provenance: Acquired in Colorado Springs, USA
Styling Notes
This authentic Navajo rug’s restrained palette and symmetrical geometry lend harmony to both modern minimalist and rustic bohemian interiors.
