Vintage Hand-knotted Turkish Tulu Rug, 100% Wool

A vintage hand-knotted "Tulu" (Turkish word for "long piled") rug from Konya in Central Anatolia. The rug is made of camel wool and natural dyed lamb’s wool featuring a design of linked geometric medallions in dark indigo, bright red and green against a light brown background. These contemporary looking, functional small rugs with lustrous wool pile were made by nomads and villagers of Central Anatolia until the 1960s for their own living spaces. Today they are considered collectible and highly decorative as each one is one-of-a-kind and representative of a diminishing form of textile and tribal art.
