A colorful hand-knotted rug from Central Anatolia with an unusual all-over design of 96 square boxes with flowers in them.
Made of 100% flower, root and plant dyed hand-spun wool.
Excellent condition with even medium pile throughout.
In Anatolia, rugs of this quality with all natural dyes and well drawn intricate designs were often made as a part of a bride's dowry and kept in a dowry chest for decades without being used on the floor and passed on to daughters and grand daughters. We were so fortunate to acquire this exceptional example of textile art in a such a pristine condition.
