Vintage Handmade Turkish High and Low Pile Rug with a Medallion Design

A vintage hand knotted Turkish rug from the 1960s featuring a round polygonal medallion filled with floral motifs. The medallion is surrounded all around with an abundance of flowering vines drawn in detail, conveying a sense of smooth, delicate movement. The inner and outer guard strips are comprised of a black and white dice pattern creating a lovely geometric contrast to the rest of the floral design of the rug. The borders echo the motifs in the medallion.

The color palette is rich, varied and interesting. The field is gold against which flowers in bright teal, steel blue, aqua green and cornflower blue stand out.

The rug has high and low pile, which gives it an added sensory and visual interest. It is made of natural wool on cotton foundation, sturdy and clean.
