Fine Vintage Traditional Turkish Wool Rug in Soft Colors

A very finely hand-knotted large vintage rug from Turkey in a color palette of stone beige, salmon pink, light blue and navy blue. The intricate design is very skillfully executed from the curvilinear medallion to the similarly shaped field in which the medallion is placed and a look of nested diamonds is created and from the intricacy of the multi-layered borders that feature cartouches to the beautiful corner pieces decorated with a rectangular arrangement of scrolling leaves and vines that echo the shapes of the cartouches. The rug is also decorated all-over with classical rosettes, palmettes and scrolling leafy and floral vines. There is feeling of sophisticated, classical elegance both in the choice of colors and the design itself.

The rug has low wool pile on densely woven cotton foundation. It is in very good condition and washed professionally. It is heavy and lays flat on the floor, suitable for both residential and commercial interiors and high traffic areas.
